August 5: Maya to make her BBC Proms solo debut performing Mark-Anthony Turnage's cello concerto

Mark-Anthony Turnage's cello concerto was written for and named after Maya and premiered with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and conductor Thomas Dausgaard in November 2016. A slow and haunting piece, Maya is based on Brandenburg Concerto No. 1, using some of Bach's melodic lines and stretching them over long periods.

On August 5th, Maya will make her BBC Proms solo debut performing the concerto.
